Hugh Johnson
Hugh’s passion for making the everyday normal appear beautiful allows his work to be both familiar and foreign. His portfolio celebrates simple combinations that work without the need to dress them up or over elaborate.
Hugh was named Fortnum & Mason Food Photographer of the Year in 2019 and has been shortlisted for the 2024 Awards. A number of his images have also been included in the Pink Lady Food Photography Awards 2024 and he received an Outstanding Achievement Award at The International Color Awards 2023. He is also a past winner of the Professional Food Photography Category at the International Color Awards.
His work has been selected for special attention by George Rodger the founder of Magnum and he was the only working British photographer whose pictures were selected for the V&A exhibition Photography Now. He’s won numerous other international photography awards such as the Grand Award at the International Advertising Festival in New York, the Art Directors Club Awards, the AOP Awards, the D&AD Awards & the annual Campaign Awards.
Hugh has shot many iconic UK & international advertising campaigns for clients such as Coca-Cola, Lego, Land Rover , Rolex, Levi Strauss, Heineken, Waitrose, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and many more.
